Tips for staying at home

It's important to take action to stop the coronavirus spreading.
Do…
• see if you can get food shopping and medicines delivered – maybe friends to family can help
• regularly wash your hands with soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds
• sleep alone, if possible
• drink plenty of water
• take paracetamol to help with your symptoms
• cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when you cough or sneeze
• put used tissues in the bin immediately and wash your hands afterwards

Urgent advice: Use the NHS 111 online coronavirus service if:

• you feel you cannot cope with your symptoms at home
• your condition gets worse
• your symptoms do not get better after 7 days

Only call 111 if you cannot get help online. In the event of an emergency, dial 999.

Looking after yourself when staying at home

Looking after yourself when staying at home

As we continue through our days, keeping ourselves, our families and loved ones, our colleagues and children safe it's hard not to feel anxious, stressed and worried about an unknown future.
In a time when so many people are on edge and scared about what tomorrow might hold, it's essential to exercise kindness in your human interactions. Remember, stress can make us behave in ways that are less than ideal, but it is rarely with harmful intent in mind. If there was ever a time to go out of your way with a kind word or two, or to respond to anger or frustration with love and support, it's now.
Infectious disease outbreaks, like the current Coronavirus (Covid 19), can be scary and can affect our mental health. While it is important to stay informed, there are also many things we can do to support and manage our wellbeing during such times.
For more information, read this article by the Mental Health Foundation which provides some great tips including checking only reputable sources for updates on the outbreak, how to manage your social media exposure to stories relating to the situation and staying connected with others.
